Tracking attributes in a link

Hi All,
I have a link in which relationship_type(parent,child)is a primary key along with hub hash Keys. It also has relationship_start_date and relationship_end_date .
Can I only add relationship_start_date and relationship_end_date in the sat to link or add relationship_type , relationship_start_date,relationship_end_date in sat to link.

This sounds like a non-standard approach to modelling a Link. How did you arrive at this approach?
